Snowy PrairieFrom a demonstration by Doug Castleman
9.5" x 14" Watercolor Framed Doug Castleman is a gifted watercolor artist and teacher. He paints precise aviation photos and wonderful landscapes. Normally a painting done in a class is not one's best work but I really liked the energy of the colors in this painting and felt the colors made the scene my own. At an artist group I was encouraged to frame the painting in a white frame. |

Pink House in the South, Version One9" x 12"
Watercolor This painting is a semi abstract view of a home I also painted with precision in acrylic and in oil. The paintings were for a good friend. I began in oil but stopped and then began an acrylic. The acrylic took a long time and along the way I did this watercolor. I then finished the acrylic and using it as a template did a new oil painting. |
Oregon Farm8" x 11"
Watercolor This very abstract but colorful watercolor was inspired by a photo from Christine Chute and Walter Perry. These friends were work colleagues in Oregon. I may revisit this scene and do something less abstract. I painted this as I returned to occasional watercolor painting after a lifetime of painting in either oil or acrylic. |
